Biography

Arina is an Armenian-Russian Mezzo-soprano. She completed her BA (Hons) in Music at Leeds Conservatoire of Music, under the guidance of Adriana Festeu and Geraldine Cassidy. In the third year of her studies, she had the chance to learn the role of Nora in 'The Riders to the Sea' by R.V. Williams, which was the milestone that inspired her to apply for a postgraduate course in music performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

She graduated from the David Seligman Opera School in 2023, where she was under the guidance of Anne Mason, Angela Livingstone, James Southall and John Fisher. Her roles include: Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus), Ciesca (Gianni Schicchi), Flora (La Traviata), Emmy (Der Vampyr), Lola (Cavalleria Rusticana) and Cherubino ( Le Nozze di Figaro). Her recent engagements include working Gothic Opera, Hampstead Garden Opera, Surrey Opera, Opernfest, and St Albans Chamber Opera.

Arina is the winner of the prestigious 2025 Mozart Prize at the David Clover Festival of Singing and a 2025 1st prize winner of Hertfordshire Opera Gala Awards.

While Arina continues to expand her operatic repertoire, she is also a keen recitalist with a strong interest in song. In 2025, she collaborated on two recitals: a program of Russian and Armenian music for the Nicholas Boas Charitable Trust with Hasmik Harutunyan and Razmik Melkonian, and a 'Mostly Mozart' recital programme with Tom Owen.

Though singing is her primary passion, Arina is also an accomplished Russian Lyric Diction Coach, having contributed to major projects with Grange Park Opera, BBC National Chorus of Wales (including twice for the Proms), London Philharmonic Choir, and Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Arina has a diverse career splitting her time between running her own music‑teaching practice, regularly performing operatic and song repertoire, and working as a Russian lyric‑diction coach. She has been teaching since 2020 and her recent positions include being a Music Teacher at Sing Education and working as a Singing Teacher at Miele Canto.
